Summary of Position:

Inside position, responsible for detailed investigation, negotiation, and settlement of complex Florida homeowners claims. Develop facts of loss, analyze policy coverages and make damage assessments. Should be able to work independently while requiring little to no supervision. Must also be a strong communicator and provider of excellent customer service. Must work effectively with external business partners for appropriate handling and resolution of claims.

Essential Duties & Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent customer service by setting expectations with customers and delivering on those agreements.
  • Ability to independently perform critical responsibilities.
  • Conduct timely and thorough investigations on assigned homeowner claims to include verification of cause of loss and establishment of subrogation opportunities. Ensure evidence is properly maintained at onset of claim.
  • Ability to manage a complex workload with clearly developed action plans and suspense.
  • Coordinate and provide direction to field adjusters, vendors and experts as needed during the course of the claim.
  • Secure recorded statements when deemed appropriate.
  • Direct and provide recommendations to defense counsel when Examinations Under Oath are to be obtained.
  • Perform timely and accurate coverage analysis on each claim in accordance with policy and endorsement provisions. Has thorough knowledge of homeowner policies and endorsements.
  • Review damage estimates for appropriate scope of damages and unit costs.
  • Compose professional claim letters and verbal correspondence as needed throughout the course of claim.
  • Review and timely adjust indemnity and expense reserves as a claim develops and when supports are obtained that warrants reserve changes.
  • Maintain an up to date and effective claims diary to ensure timely claims resolutions.

Qualifications

  • College or equivalent.
  • Valid 520 or 620 Florida Adjusters license required.
  • Has experience in claims involving Attorney or Public Adjuster representation that are in Litigation. Homeowner liability and mediation experience is a plus.
  • Has understanding of legal processes and environment associated with the various venues in Florida.
  • Five years or more of experience in handling homeowner claims. Understands state statutes and good faith handling practices.
  • Excellent customer service skills and problem solver.
  • Has understanding of residential construction and repair/replace techniques.
  • Skilled in effectively negotiating and settling homeowners claims in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Competent in using Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience with XactAnaylsis preferred.
  • Sets high personal standards and consistently achieves set goals.
  • Fluency in Spanish a plus, written and verbal.
