Summary of Position:

The Product Development Specialist will be responsible for modifying existing insurance products and developing new products in the state the Company provides services. Working with the Director of Product to continue profitability and success of assigned lines of business by state.

Essential Duties & Job Responsibilities:

  • Collects and analyzes data from all available resources to monitor and benchmark competitiveness of premium rates, rules, and forms offerings.
  • Coordinates and communicates with external Director of Product, Actuary, Claims, Underwriting, and IT departments in designing new products and updating existing products.
  • Prepares, submits, and obtains approval of regulatory rate, rule, and form filings; ensures compliance with statutory filing requirements and communicating clearly and professionally with insurance regulators.
  • Understands and is familiar with state statistical reporting and ISO/NAIC reporting as required.
  • Works with the IT Department to deliver the accurate implementation of new and/or updated products; maintain and update the Company’s computerized rating systems.
  • Complete periodic reports and data submissions for senior management and our partners.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree required. Emphasis in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, or related and/or MBA a plus. Direct industry related experience of 10 years will be considered.
  • A minimum of three years of property/casualty insurance work experience, including the areas of product development and regulatory compliance filings. Florida Property Market experience a plus.
  • Detail oriented; proficiency in analyzing data; strong reading comprehension.
  • The ability to work independently with minimal assistance or supervision.
  • Computer literate – Advanced knowledge of Windows Office, Excel and intermediate understanding of Access, PowerPoint & Word.
  • Understanding of SERFF and experience with rating engines utilized in the rate development process.
  • Possess good research, presentation, verbal, and writing skills.
  • Proficiency in math and computer skills, especially Microsoft Word and Excel; (experience in SQL or SAS a plus).
  • The ability to accurately diagnose, analyze, and solve problems.
  • General lines certification or CPCU a plus.
