Location: Orlando, FL

Summary of Position:

This position rotates among 4 major departments: Accounting, Claims, Sales & Marketing, and Underwriting, with a 3 to 6 month rotation in each department. The employee will receive instruction and on-the- job training in each field to gain perspective on each department’s role. 

Essential Duties & Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities including: accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing/billing, customer credits and collections, fixed asset records, payroll, inter-company transactions, etc.
  • Handle established tasks and duties to gain familiarity in each department
  • Observe experienced industry professionals and receive classroom instruction and training to acquire knowledge of methods, procedures, and standards required to perform departmental duties
  • Learn line and staff operations and functions within departments to facilitate transferability between departments and greater promotional opportunities
  • Work with management to plan and direct the work of the department
  • Perform ad-hoc projects and assist in all departments as assigned
  • Attend periodic evaluations every 3-6 months with a formalized Professional Development Plan (PDP) tailored to interestswhich may include plans to obtain designation such as CPCU
  • Attend lectures, watch speakers, create projects and presentations, take tests
  • Report on market activity by monitoring/analyzing competitors’ pricing and products
  • Identify industry trends and recommend proactive or remedial actions to manage situations
  • Attend recruiting/networking events at select colleges
  • Participate on a Strategic Initiative Team within Lighthouse

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Risk Management
  • Detail oriented and demonstrates organizational and time management skills with the ability to perform tasks concurrently with ease and professionalism
  • Able to work independently, efficiently, and effectively in a team environment
  • Able to follow policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Able to handle confidential information in a discreet and professional manner
  • Proficient in Windows-based software and Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job duties of this position, with out without reasonable accommodation
  • Must be able to function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with customers, vendors and personnel
  • Occasionally lift medium to heavy objects
