Summary of Position:

This position performs a variety of clerical accounting tasks to assist the Accounting department. Responsibilities include reconciliations, basic journal entries and act as back-up for other staff in the office.

Essential Duties & Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in reconciliation of Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable
  • Reconcile outstanding checks and follow up on uncashed checks
  • Reconcile claims activity for void and stop pay transactions
  • Work with claims department to accurately record refunds, subro and salvage in policy servicing center
  • Prepare journal entries as needed for voids and stop pays
  • Maintain Escheat listings
  • Prepare letters for unclaimed property and prepare filings for various states
  • Reconcile municipality tax activity and prepare payments and filings
  • Maintain procedure manuals
  • Assist with audit sample testing
  • Daily cash reconciliation
  • Enter invoices for payment
  • Other miscellaneous tasks and/or projects

Qualifications

  • Degree in Accounting a plus. Insurance experience a plus.
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrate organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to follow policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Proficient in Windows-based software. Strong Microsoft Excel skills required. Operational knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Word preferred.
